| spa |
| dc.description.abstract | Increasing globalization and new information technologies have brought about significant changes in the tourism and hotel sector, leading to an expansion of its activities to different regions, municipalities, and townships, both locally and nationally and internationally. This situation frequently exposes them to various crises with a greater impact than other sectors. In line with the above, the objective of this doctoral thesis is to determine the economic, social, and environmental factors associated with risk management in the hotel sector. To this end, [1] identified the main economic, social, and environmental factors in the tourism sector, as well as the risks associated with these factors, based on a systematic review of the literature in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. This allowed us to design the theoretical model and establish hypotheses for each dimension and identified factor. Then [2], an instrument was designed that allowed us to model or evaluate risk management based on the economic, social, and environmental indicators mentioned in the literature and the characteristics of the district context. With this information [3], the risk measurement model was validated using indicators adjusted from a structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis of data derived from a survey of 252 hotels in the city of Cartagena. This instrument was validated using Aiken's V applied to a panel of experts. Finally [4], the risk management level of hotel companies in Cartagena was established. The results confirm that a risk management model in the hotel sector (TRM) achieves adequate levels of adjustment when it incorporates the Economic (E), Social (S), and Environmental (A) factors - H1, which are positively and significantly associated (TRM → E = 1.00 with R2 = 0.904; TRM → S = 1.03 with R2 = 0.906; TRM → A = 0.86 with R2 = 0.747) - H2, H3, and H4. This study lays the foundation for future research related to risk management in the tourism and hotel sector. | eng |
