| spa |
| dc.description.abstract | The mandatory confinement resulting from the covid-19 pandemic forced different organizations to adapt to remote work modalities, as was the case with higher education institutions (HEIs). This study aims to determine and contrast the effects that remote work had on the quality of life of teachers belonging to Colombian HEIs during the pandemic from a gender perspective. The empirical study with a quantitative approach included the participation of a non-probabilistic sample of 226 teachers, who were employed by public, private or mixed HEIs and answered an online questionnaire. The results show the effect that remote work conditions had on the perception of work overload, tensions in the mediation of work and family life, and collateral effects. From a gender perspective, it was found that female teachers reported feeling the side effects of remote work to a greater extent in relation to psychological and physiological manifestations that affected their well-being. Likewise, the care of the children of both women and men teachers had a greater incidence in the mediation of work and family life. The results of the study make it possible to demonstrate the effects that the organization of work has under remote modalities on the quality of life of teacher workers, which constitutes an input for human resources practices and processes. | eng |
