Association of copyright and related rights in the digital environment – ACORDE: Business plan

Abstract

Acorde - Asociación para la gestión de los derechos de autor y conexos en el entorno digital, busca cubrir el campo de acción que Sayco y Acinpro, no han llenado en su totalidad, haciendo la gestión de los derechos (recaudo y distribución) por la utilización de la música en el entorno digital. Es claro que actualmente, muchos autores, compositores, intérpretes, ejecutantes, casas productoras y editoras de música son ampliamente difundidos a través de internet y otros entornos digitales sin que sus regalías lleguen incluso a ser liquidadas, y mucho menos entregadas, debido a múltiples factores. ACORDE busca llenar ese espacio y brindar a sus afiliados las garantías necesarias de cobro y distribución de los derechos por sus obras en este nuevo entorno tecnológico. La esencia de la Association of Copyright and related Rights in the Digital Environment – ACORDE- (por sus siglas en inglés), es convertirse en una central de licenciamiento o “ventanilla única” del derecho de autor y derechos conexos en el entorno digital, para satisfacer las necesidades de dos sectores; el primero de ellos, el de los consumidores de productos musicales de procedencia lícita; y el segundo, el de los titulares de derechos de autor y conexos que se van a ver recompensados por los usos lícitos de sus bienes intelectuales.

ACORDE-Association of Copyright and Related rights in the Digital Environment, aims to cover the field of action that ACINPRO nor SAYCO have fully completed, for the rights management (collection and distribution) for the use of music in the digital environment. It is clear that currently, many authors, composers, singers, performers, production companies and music publishers are widely disseminated through the Internet and other digital environments without their royalty reach even to be settled, much less delivered, due to multiple factors . ACORDE seeks to fill that space for its affiliates, providing the necessary guarantees of collection and distribution rights for their works in this new technological environment. The essence of the Association of Copyright and Related Rights in the Digital Environment - CHORD-(for its acronym in English), is becoming a central licensing or "stop" of copyright and related rights in the digital environment, for meet the needs of two sectors, the first of them, the consumers of musical products of legal origin, and the second, the holders of copyright and related rights that are going to be rewarded for lawful uses of property intellectuals.
