    Analyzing emotion in project management
    (Universidad Ean, 2024-12-08) Universidad Ean
This article analyzes different ways emotions have been studied and applied to promote better communication and working conditions, leading to more successful projects and helping build stronger relationships between members. Project management relies on emotions because it depends on human communication and interactions, which can help reduce or escalate conflict. Emotional closeness is an important aspect of interpersonal interactions and relationships. It is also essential to motivate members. Special attention is given to communication inside project teams, since it is essential in building trust and developing strong relationships. When emotions are handled adequately, trust and strong bonds develop. In project management, members are bound together by a sense of common identity, sharing professional values and interests. The stronger the connections between members, the higher the productivity and support. Specific ways to connect in project management emerge due to the very nature of projects and the closeness of the members.

Fulfillment project management, the culture and sustainability role
(Universidad Ean, 2024-12-08) Niño Amézquita, José L.; Vargas Laverde, Jennyffer; Garzón Buitrago, María Paula; Universidad Ean
The literature has consistently underscored the pivotal role of cultural aspects in development processes since the dawn of the 21st century. However, the primary manuals guiding project development persist in addressing these aspects in a peripheral and significantly diminished manner. Regular projects are mainly based on economic and administrative aspects in a disarticulated way. This article aims to discuss the visions of project management with a regular, cultural and sustainable approach to highlight the importance of interdisciplinarity. It places special emphasis on the intricate task of incorporating social and human variables that cultural studies have been considering for years, thus seeking to vindicate the status of this type of project within the academic field. As a research method, a bibliometric analysis is carried out in the Scopus database to identify the main trends and concepts that circulate in these projects. Finally, the results reveal a need for dialogue among the three approaches since each contributes variables that support the formulation and management of integral projects.

Assessing the impact of green projects on sustainable development through composite indicator: a bibliometric study
(Universidad Ean, 2024-12-08) Peregrina Mila, María Isabel; Lastre Sierra, Hassir; Universidad Ean
Society has integrated the role of sustainable development in different fields of social, political and commercial interest, with a milestone being the sustainable development summit in 2015, where more than 150 countries committed to the 2030 agenda. However, interested parties, Both public and private, have yet to establish a standard methodology to measure performance in terms of green projects that contribute to their sustainability strategies. At the same time, stakeholders raise questions about its level of progress at a global level and, specifically, what influence it has on the green projects of organizations and companies. In the literature, there are different proposals for its measurement, and actors have prioritized using composite indicators due to their ability to include different simple indicators to measure accurately in their different fields of application. With the above in mind, this work aims to investigate how composite indicator techniques have measured the performance of green projects that impact sustainable development. This bibliometric study integrated 51 filtered documents from the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases, limited to business and administration articles. The software implemented in this study are Tableau and VosViewer. The results show the principal methodologies used in the field of study, the primary authors, and the countries and institutions involved. The articles analyzed indicate the growing use of composite indicators for measuring green projects with an impact on sustainable development, identifying future research areas aimed at standardizing the use of composite indicators and their benefits.

Hydrometeorological components affecting disaster risk in a high andean watershed
(Universidad Ean, 2024-12-08) Benitez Ramirez, Dora Marcela; Panimboza Deleg, Jonathan; Universidad Ean
Based on meteorological data from IDEAM and satellite imagery spanning the period 2005-2016, coupled with an in-depth analysis of 2011 data, and cross-referenced with risk management databases from the department of Boyacá, a statistical identification of disaster scenarios impacting the sustainable development of the upper Chicamocha river basin was conducted. The spatiotemporal study reveals a hydrologically dynamic basin characterized by atypical extreme precipitation records influenced by the oceanic components of ENOS (El Niño-La Niña phenomena). The temporal fluctuation trends in flood return conditions expose the vulnerability of communities. Therefore, the generation of timely social response strategies is crucial to mitigate the adverse impacts of these threats. Consequently, examining the anticipation capacities of institutions and citizens is paramount to fostering a resilient culture. Further studies are warranted, incorporating cognitive processes, risk perception assessments, and an investigation of how the temporal and spatial scales of climate change influence the daily lives of basins as units of analysis. This study contributes to a refined understanding of the atmospheric processes that trigger extreme flood events. The exploration of these threats and the development of institutional capacities pave the way for the formulation and implementation of enhanced risk reduction strategies, ultimately promoting the consolidation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and environmental stewardship.

Financial sustainability in SMEs in the lodging sector: business models and transformations
(Universidad Ean, 2024-12-08) Puerta Guardo, Fabio Andrés; Cantillo Orozco, Ana Susana; Pérez Correa, Ivonne C.; Sanabria Ospino, Alfredo E.; Fajardo-Moreno, William S.; Universidad Ean
Sustainability and technological transformations play an important role in the global economy and in the growth of companies. Therefore, the objective was to analyze the effect of technological transformations on the financial sustainability of SMEs in the lodging sector, as well as the relationship between liquidity and indebtedness of these companies. To this end, [1] A systematic literature review and bibliometric analysis was carried out using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny. [2] A test of differences in means (T-student) was performed between the variables technological transformation (categorical) and financial sustainability (continuous), in order to verify the hypothesis: Ha: there are no statistically significant differences in financial sustainability between companies in the lodging sector in Bolivar that do or do not apply technological transformation processes. The sample corresponds to financial information as of 2022 of SMEs in the department of Bolívar (29) and the Bogotá D.C. region (74), taken from the Integrated Corporate Information System - SIIS portal of the Colombian Superintendency of Companies. This selection is based on the ranking of the Colombian Regional Tourism Competitiveness Index - ICTRC. [3] A correlation analysis was carried out to test hypothesis Hb: there is a positive effect between indebtedness and liquidity risk, with independent variable indebtedness level and dependent variable liquidity. For this purpose, Spearman's coefficient was calculated. The findings reflect that there is little research on financial sustainability and digital transformation processes in SMEs in Colombia, unlike in other parts of the world. Regarding the T-test, no statistically significant differences were found between financial sustainability and the application or not of technological transformation processes in the companies analyzed. This motivates research and business strengthening in this field of study, and the creation of synergies between the business and academic sectors.

(Universidad Ean, 2024-12-08) Sanabria Ospino, Alfredo Enrique; López García, Diana Milena; Puerta Guardo, Fabio Andrés; Fajardo-Moreno, William Stive; Universidad Ean
Currently, in the global financial market, there were expectations of interest rate easing in the United States by the Federal Reserve (FED), which has increased by 0.5% in the last two years. However, the latest report on the increase in inflation in the same country has generated uncertainty in the financial industry regarding the suspension of rate hikes by the same body. This drastic interest rate hike policy has negatively impacted the metrics of the U.S. home sales construction sector. The objective of this paper is to perform a bibliometric analysis of the scientific literature to understand the current trends in research related to the construction sector, financial performance, and sustainability, for this purpose, 102 articles were processed from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The found findings presented in the study suggest relevant research topics within the sector such as Project management, sustainability, sustainable development, and energy efficiency. The relevant contribution of this work is to make known the current research trends in the sector under study that revolve around financial performance and its relationship with sustainability.

Factors influencing the adoption of 4.0 technologies in manufacturing SMEs in Duitama, Boyacá
(Universidad Ean, 2024-12) Bernal Diaz, Ingrid Vanessa; Jiménez Orozco, Hilda Lucia; Álvarez Araque, William Orlando; Universidad Ean
The manufacturing sector in the municipality of Duitama, Boyacá, faces a number of challenges arising from increasing globalization, which is driving companies towards the integration of Industry 4.0 tools. However, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encountering obstacles when trying to adapt to this new technological era, which may be due to the fact that entrepreneurs do not fully understand the potential of this type of technology. In addition, there are several factors that affect the appropriation of these technologies, leading managers to adopt a wait-and-see attitude, without considering the risks associated with a late adoption process for their companies. In this sense, the objective of this study is to formulate strategic guidelines to guide managers of SMEs in the manufacturing sector in the successful adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies. The methodology integrated in the research process is qualitative in approach, with a descriptive scope and an action research design. Preliminary findings indicate that the scarcity of financial and technical resources stands as the main obstacle, exacerbated by the lack of knowledge about technological integration and resistance to change, therefore, it is expected that the guidelines derived from this study will address these limitations, thus facilitating the successful transition to Industry 4.0 in the local manufacturing sector.

Relationship between soft skills and organizational performance, a developing field: current state and relationship
(Universidad Ean, 2024-12-07) Andrés Muñoz, Fernando; Steve Pulido, Jason; Universidad Ean
Various interpersonal or soft skills are required by employers in a competitive and dynamic business environment. The purpose of this article is to identify the current state of research carried out on soft or interpersonal skills and their relationship with organizational performance, and based on these findings, propose an applicable structural model that allows identifying said relationship. The results of some research reveal that the development of soft skills impacts the job performance of employees; among the main skills found in the literature are communication, problem solving, and decision making. In carrying out this research, multiple investigations were compiled between the years 2013 and 2024, in English and Spanish, using sources such as Emerald, Sciencedirect, Ebscohost, Scopus. A structural equation model was used as a way to propose a relation between the aforementioned factors, and a frequency matrix to determine the soft skills found in various studies. Through this research, it was evidenced that soft skills contribute positively and significantly to job performance, and, therefore, are a factor of competitive advantage, and it was determined that it is a field of growth and research interest. Limitations may arise according to the particularities of the industrial sector and the economic context of the countries where the research was carried out. This research provides an understanding of the relationship between soft skills and organizational performance, the results of which can help both higher education institutions and companies to enhance the development of these skills among their collaborators. Little research has been carried out focused on soft skills and organizational performance, therefore, this study contributes significantly to concrete strategies for the development of some key soft skills.

Project management as an enabler of industry 4.0: insights from the literature
(Universidad Ean, 2024-12-07) Díaz Leal, Nelly Rosana; Universidad Ean
This review aims to deepen the concept of Industry 4.0, highlighting its characteristics, key technologies, adoption barriers and benefits in terms of flexibility, productivity and competitiveness. As we move towards Industry 4.0, it is essential to understand the internal and external factors that affect the adoption of project management practices that provide a clear path towards its implementation, facing the challenge of remaining competitive in a constantly evolving technological environment. [1] recognizes that there is no single strategy for adopting Industry 4.0 in SMEs, suggesting the need for approaches tailored to each company. The transition presents challenges related to scope, time and cost management, with effective management being crucial to facilitate organizational changes by controlling disruptions and adopting solutions for deviation control [2]; [3]. The literature review, complemented by a bibliometric analysis using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) methodology, ensures a structured documentation of relevant f indings on project management and Industry 4.0. The results highlight the growing interest in the synergy between project management andIndustry 4.0, approached from multidisciplinary perspectives. This attention is reflected in a wide range of publications and studies focused on this area of knowledge. Topics such as the redefinition of the role of project leaders in the face of digital transformation, key factors for the success of Industry 4.0 projects and their economic, social and labor impact, as well as the interactions between the business fabric and Industry 4.0 are clarified, identifying barriers and challenges.

Towards effective business sustainability: unveiling the role of entrepreneurial competencies in project management
(Universidad Ean, 2024-12-07) Pachón, Martha Lucia; Velosa García, José Divitt; Universidad Ean
Entrepreneurship has revolutionized business project management, introducing new strategies, tools, and needs that have transformed the way projects are carried out. One of the most significant aspects of this influence is the vision of sustainability, which has become a reference point and a management tool. Sustainability, derived from sustainable development, seeks to meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to do the same [1]. In response to the need to train competent professionals who support sustainable development in the business world, and to create frameworks for the development of competencies in educational institutions that provide the elements of sustainability (social, environmental, and economic) for countries like Colombia, this research focused on inquiring with a group of experts (university professors and entrepreneurs) about how entrepreneurial skills contribute to sustainability, their contributions, and the possible relationships as a system of entrepreneurial competencies. Preliminary results indicate that entrepreneurial competencies contribute significantly to the components of sustainability, but not in the same proportion and importance within the global sustainability model (social, environmental, and governance). It is expected that by understanding how these business competencies are identified, structured, and developed in universities, more coherent and contributory approaches to business sustainability can be modeled and managed.

Management tool for sustainable decision-making at the board level – oil & gas transport chain
(Universidad Ean, 2024-12-07) Rodríguez-Peña, Antonio; Universidad Ean
The relationship between business management and environmental, social, and economic challenges is historically significant, highlighting the need for robust decision-making tools for sustainability, especially for boards of directors when evaluating projects. In the transportation infrastructure of the oil sector, disasters like the Exxon Valdez spill, the Kuwait oil fires, the Gulf of Mexico spill, and the recent oil spill near Lima demonstrate the consequences of poorly informed decisions. This study aims to develop a managerial tool that provides stronger support for boards of directors in the oil sector to make decisions about the sustainability impacts of their projects, aligning them with the Sustainable Development Goals. Following a thorough literature review, the proposed tool was structured. This managerial tool is based on a four-stage process: analysis of the impacts on the value chain of storage, transportation, and reception of oil and gas; measurement of the project's effects on sustainability; definition of success indicators; and development of a specific sustainability management plan. The research provides practical, scalable, and adaptable solutions to the changing needs of companies, delving into the relationship between organizations and environmental, social, and economic challenges, and emphasizing the importance of structured and scalable processes to address these challenges.

(Universidad Ean, 2024-12-07) Castro Torres, Wilson Javier; Vivas Martín, Jose Gustavo; Diez Silva, Henry Mauricio; Montes Guerra, Maricela Isabel; Universidad Ean
