Agricultural composting of solid organic waste is a sustainable alternative for the utilization of biodegradable by-products and the reduction of the environmental impact generated by agroindustrial waste. However, in small and medium-sized agricultural systems, this process is often carried out without controlling critical variables, which affects the stability and quality of the resulting compost. To address this issue, the present study aimed to design and implement a distributed monitoring system for tracking physicochemical variables during the agricultural composting process. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach, with a descriptive-correlational scope and a longitudinal non-experimental design. Initially, a systematic literature review was carried out following the PRISMA methodology, through the consultation of scientific databases covering the period from 2020 to 2026. This review made it possible to identify trends, technologies, and knowledge gaps related to composting monitoring. Subsequently, a system based on ESP32 microcontrollers and sensors was designed to measure temperature, humidity, and gases at different points within the composted material. The results showed that continuous monitoring makes it possible to identify variations within the system, facilitating the analysis of thermal and moisture behavior throughout the different composting stages. Furthermore, the implementation of distributed measurement improved data collection and contributed to the detection of conditions that may affect process efficiency.
