Factores ASG: breve revisión sobre su adopción en el sistema financiero colombiano

Abstract

Esta breve revisión analiza y presenta, desde un enfoque cualitativo, el estado de la integración de los factores ambientales, sociales y de gobierno corporativo (ASG) en las instituciones del sector financiero en Colombia, con el objetivo de, establecer la posición de las instituciones respecto a estos temas. Concluyendo que el estado actual de la integración ASG en la industria, aun se encuentra en una etapa temprana, con una participación voluntaria de las instituciones, pero revelando sistemáticamente una imagen incompleta. Que, sumado a la poca intervención significativa del regulador, sugiere la necesidad de complementar la integración voluntaria de ASG, con requisitos obligatorios para instar a las empresas a ser más responsables en términos de desempeño ambiental y social.

.This brief review analyzes and presents, from a qualitative approach, the state of adoption of environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG factors) in the financial institutions in Colombia, with the objective to establish the position of institutions regarding to these issues. Concluding that the current state of ESG integration in the industry, is still in an early stage, with a voluntary participation of the institutions, but, systematically revealing an incomplete picture. That, added to the little significant intervention of the regulator, suggests the need to complement the voluntary integration of ASG, with mandatory requirements to urge companies to be more responsible in terms of environmental and social performance.
