Abstract

El documento presenta un análisis sobre los incendios estructurales en Colombia y muestra que este es un problema frecuente, urbano y prevenible. Su aporte principal es evidenciar que el país no solo necesita reducir la ocurrencia de incendios, sino también mejorar la calidad de la información disponible para entender mejor el riesgo. El informe calcula que ocurre un incendio estructural cada 77 minutos, aproximadamente. Las principales causas identificadas son las fallas eléctricas y el uso de llama abierta, lo que apunta a fallas en instalaciones, equipos, hábitos domésticos y prácticas de seguridad. También señala que Bogotá concentra más casos en términos absolutos, pero que varias ciudades presentan tasas relativas altas. La conclusión central es que la prevención debe combinar acciones técnicas, educativas e institucionales. Además, se requiere fortalecer el sistema de registro para tomar decisiones más precisas y asignar mejor los recursos.
