This research analyzes the environmental and social conditions of the urban corridor of the Fucha River in Bogotá, specifically in areas of the Antonio Nariño and Puente Aranda districts, with the aim of establishing a basis for the incorporation of green infrastructure. The study focuses on the deterioration of the river resulting from urban growth, soil sealing, wastewater discharges, loss of vegetation cover, and waste accumulation. These factors affect both water quality and the environmental functioning of the corridor. To understand this situation, a diagnosis was conducted using environmental information, data analysis, field observations, and surveys of residents in the selected areas. The results made it possible to identify problems related to water quality, surface runoff, deterioration of areas surrounding the river, and negative perceptions among community members, mainly associated with pollution, insecurity, and a lack of community engagement with the space. Different types of green infrastructure and experiences implemented in similar urban contexts were also reviewed. Based on the relationship between the diagnostic results and the alternatives studied, multifunctional linear channels were identified as a potentially suitable option for incorporation into the Fucha River corridor. This type of infrastructure can contribute to stormwater management, flood risk reduction, environmental and landscape improvement, and the recovery of spaces for community use. In this regard, the research shows that green infrastructure should not be considered solely as a physical intervention, but rather as a strategy that jointly addresses the environmental, hydraulic, and social conditions of the territory. Finally, the study establishes that the socio-environmental diagnosis is a necessary starting point for defining interventions that are consistent with the characteristics of the river and the communities living in its surroundings. In this way, the incorporation of green infrastructure can contribute to the restoration of the Fucha River, the strengthening of its ecological function, and the development of a closer relationship between the water system and the city.
