Estudio del rating de la deuda soberana en Colombia, Indonesia, Perú y Sur África

Abstract

En el año 2011 la agencia Standard & Poors mejoró el rating de la deuda soberana emitida por el gobierno de Colombia, volviendo a identificar a este país como grado de inversión, distinción que se había perdido en la década de los noventa. Aprovechando la actual coyuntura que experimenta el mencionado país, este documento pretende investigar y analizar las razones que dieron lugar a este hecho, comparando su evolución durante la última década con las siguientes economías emergentes también reconocidas con el grado de inversión: Indonesia, Perú y Sur África.

Mediante el análisis realizado se busca identificar semejanzas, diferencias y factores críticos, relacionados con el comportamiento de las variables macroeconómicas más relevantes de estos países, el desempeño de sus monedas e índices bursátiles y la progresión de la competitividad medida a través del Índice de Competitividad Global (GCI) elaborado por el Foro Económico Mundial. En el final del documento, se establecen las conclusiones pertinentes y se determinan tres recomendaciones a tener en cuenta, para lograr un nuevo incremento del rating de la deuda soberana colombiana.

In 2011 the agency Standard & Poors upgraded the rating of sovereign debt issued by the government of Colombia, returning to identify this country as investment grade distinction was lost in the nineties. Taking advantage of the current situation experienced by the country mentioned, this paper aims to investigate and analyze the reasons that led to this, comparing their evolution over the past decade with the following emerging economies also recognized investment grade: Indonesia, Peru and South Africa.

Through the analysis is to identify similarities, differences and critical factors related to the behavior of macroeconomic variables most relevant of these countries, the performance of their currencies and stock indices and progression of competitiveness measured by the Global Competitiveness Index (GCI) developed by the World Economic Forum. At the end of the document sets out the relevant conclusions and identifies three recommendations to consider to achieve a further increase in sovereign debt rating Colombian.
